The most famous view in Georgia: a small lone church on a green summit, with the permanently snow-capped Kazbek peak behind it. The road there is the Georgian Military Highway — three hours from Tbilisi through valleys and reservoirs.

There is no train and no comfortable public transport between Georgian cities. The practical option for a family is a car with a driver who meets you at the airport, stays with you throughout, and knows the mountain roads.

Is one day enough?
Yes — three hours each way with enough time for the church and photos. An overnight stay is more relaxed.
Do I need a 4x4?
Only for the climb to the church. You reach the village in your car, then hire a local 4x4 for the 20-minute climb — we arrange it.
Is the road dangerous?
It is a paved mountain road our drivers take weekly. In winter we monitor conditions and postpone if it closes.
